OUR PROGRAMS

2nd Act’s educational and therapeutic interventions empower individuals and communities to take personal and social action in response to the impact of substance use. Our programs utilize theater, film and drama therapy to promote collective recovery.

PREVENTION PLAYS

Evidence based prevention program that utilizes live productions as a creative intervention with students. All plays are created and performed by people in recovery and meet state DOE standards in health eduction

ACT NOW!

Prevention-focused social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum taught that uses theatre techniques to teach the 5 core competencies of SEL, created and taught by a teaching artist in recovery

DRAMA THERAPY

Trauma-informed therapeutic intervention to prevent relapse, compassion fatigue, and secondary trauma among Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, facilitated by a drama therapist in recovery

NEW WORKS DEPARTMENT

Engagement with community voices in theatre-making processes to create new plays about how substance use intersects with other social justice issues

2ND ACT DIGITAL

Production of short films and public health campaigns focused on spreading awareness about harm reduction and recovery
